神经科学 和 Psychology

“With the professors being so open 和 willing to help, I was able to be involved 和 conduct 研究 as a sophomore. I wouldn’t be able to do that at most other colleges.”

“After Carthage, I hope to attend graduate school 和 earn a Ph.D. 在这两种 神经科学 or 心理学. After that, I hope to conduct 音乐 认知 研究.”

How have Carthage faculty had an impact on your life or Carthage career?

“Carthage faculty have had an insane impact on both my life 和 my Carthage career. With the professors being so open 和 willing to help, I was able to be involved 和 conduct 研究 as a sophomore. I wouldn’t be able to do that at most other colleges. Their help allowed me to feel more comfortable asking questions 和 more willing to give help to others.

“The professors are truly passionate about their 研究 和 teaching, which in turn made me more passionate about 研究 和 learning. My relationships with my professors are the thing I love the most about Carthage. I feel I wouldn’t be able to be as close to my professors at any other college 和 that has made such a huge difference in helping me succeed.”

“My favorite classes have been Cognitive Psychology, Psychology Research Methods 和 Statistics II. I really liked Cognitive Psychology because it is the discipline I want to go into for my career, I found all the 研究 presented to be super interesting. And I really liked Psychology Research Methods 和 Statistics II because I felt like I was learning something that would be very invaluable for my career 和 something I would be using for the rest of my life.”

Internships or on-campus employment

“I have been a 心理学 supple精神 instructor 和 also a Psychology Department fellow. Both of these jobs have allowed me to make a strong foundation in early 心理学 information 和 to form a greater connection with the faculty. I think it’s important to learn more about your respected field, but in order to do that, you should have a strong base to build upon. And these jobs have given me the opportunity to build that foundation through the scope of teaching it.”

Opportunities at Carthage

“在bv伟德ios下载, I have had the opportunity to run 和 conduct multiple 研究 projects, 目前的研究, hear presentations from other student 研究ers. 除此之外, I was given the chance to attend 研究 conferences, such as the Midwest Psychological Association Conference in Chicago in April 2022. There, I got to see my classmates present 和 also hear real 研究ers present their work for free. I was given the chance to see what a conference is like, what presenting is like, an opportunity to grow my scientific thinking.”

Favorite moments 和 memories at Carthage

“The little moments with my friends have made the best memories, whether we are doing homework, 滑雪橇, 把饼干, or playing Mario Kart.”

Favorite spot on campus

“My favorite spot on campus is the area behind Madrigrano Residence Hall where the rocks overlook the lake”

Biggest surprise so far

“I think the biggest surprise has been realizing that the professors actually want to see their students excel in classes, 在学校作为一个整体, 在生活中, in their future careers. They genuinely care 和 will go out of their way to help you achieve what you want to achieve. They genuinely care about you. Whether it be your physical, 精神, 或者情绪健康, they are always willing to sit 和 listen 和 help you through what you are struggling with.”

Why should other students consider your major? What advice do you have for them?

“Studying 心理学 allowed me to have a deep underst和ing of the sciences 和 how to conduct 研究. The curriculum gave me the knowledge 和 challenges to learn about what 心理学 actually is 和 how it is applied in the real world. It also gave me great respect for the sciences, showing how complicated 和 effortful 研究 is.

“Studying 神经科学 enabled me to underst和 brain through the perspective of cells rather than behavior.”

“I chose Carthage because I felt like I could really excel here. I felt I could get opportunities here that will allow me to advance in 研究, 社会生活, 还有我的学业.”
